The Living Monolith was always a very striking character visually, which is why I decided to capture him in plastic.  His base is a Dark Alliance Lucifer figure, measuring in at 9" tall.  Which if you're into dioramas at all, is perfect scale with the new Heroclix figures.  I trimmed him down, and the new accessories are sculpted in Milliput.  The straps between his arms and helmet are cut vinyl.  The cheek-flaps on his helmet are cut from a plastic soda bottle and superglued in place.  The round accessory on his helmet is cut out of the plastic bubble you get from a gumball machine.
The truly patience-stretching part of this custom was the chrome finish.  I think I went through 7 or 8 rounds of sanding/priming on every part of his costume.  Obsessive, I know, but I think it was worth it in the end.  As you can see from the close-up of his boot, the finish is truly mirror-like; you can even read the printing in the reflection of the paintbrush handle.  I used Duplicolor Aluminum Chrome spray paint, available in the automotive paint section of finer Walmarts everywhere.  I think it works a little better than Krylon chrome.  Oh, and the eyes/mouth are pink and white artist oils, which is my first attempt at blending oils.
