Model Master Metalizer Spray Paint
Metalizer spray paint, manufactured by Model Master by Testors, is a variation
on chrome spray paint. There are two varieties of Metalizer spray paint:
Buffing and Non-Buffing. The Buffing variety must be.....you guessed
it....buffed after it dries. As a result, it has a deeper, more realistic
finish. It also comes in spray cans or bottles to be used in an airbrush.
Not to mention several different shades of silver metal, plus a brass
and copper shade. The above picture features Buffing Aluminum Metalizer
from a spray can.
Now, some people hate Metalizer paint. Personally, I think it gives
a slightly better reflective finish than chrome spray paint, and is slightly
less touchy. But it is a pain to buff in any crevices. It's also
a little more expensive than chrome spray paints like Krylon (it usually costs
about the same amount as a can of Krylon, but you get about 1/3 as much).
Pros
Cons
· Pretty Cheap
·
Masking is a pain / Buffing is easy but tedious
· Easy
(broad coverage)
·
Detailing is difficult
· Looks pretty good
· Even though
it looks good, you can still tell it's paint
Synopsis:
Use mainly for broad coverage or an entire figure, or you'll drive yourself
mad trying to mask off sections. Overall, looks pretty good if you
recognize its limitations.
