Lab Metal
Lab Metal
is a putty sold through Micro Mark that has a ground aluminum filler. Using
a corresponding
thinner
, it can even be painted on, as was done to Hal's torso here. (Unfortunately,
I accidentally gooped it a little in the middle of his chest here) Once
it dries and hardens, it can be polished to a decent sheen.
This stuff is pretty cool. While it doesn't get to a high shine/polish,
it does look like unfinished steel once polished, and could have some uses.
It's also very durable. Unfortunately, it's pretty expensive
if you don't use it all the time, and to paint it on you have to deal with
unpleasant fumes from both the Lab Metal as well as the thinner. Plus,
it takes some practice to paint it on without gooping (again, see the picture
for an example). Plus, you have the extra labor of polishing it, and
have to be careful not to polish down to bare plastic.

Synopsis:
Strictly for the wealthy or curious. I can't justify it's use over
other methods.
